RetireMan Reviews Retirement Activities

Hi, I’m Tom. I just became a retired person. I don’t really know what I want to next. There seems to be so many great retirement activities. I kind of want to try them all. Do you know what you are going to do?

Like you, I did the right things to get to retirement. I worked hard, raised a family, worked even more, and saved money for retirement. I did all of the things. I did the save 20 percent, didn’t touch it, bought a house, was frugal, college fund for the kids, no debt, etc.. I didn’t mess up. I didn’t do drugs, no gambling, no philandering, and no felonies. I married a very smart woman and listened to her advice. I did everything I was supposed to do. It took a lot of effort and now I’m retired. So, What do I do now?

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

Steve Jobs

I don’t want to live someone else’s idea of retirement. I want to create my own, but I’m open to advice about what things I should try. There are hundreds of different retirement activities to try. Life after work isn’t just golf and card games, there are tons of things to do. So let’s investigate all of them.

I really wanted to find a person who had tried all of these things and tells us which ones they liked. Mike Rowe did this for jobs on Dirty Jobs or Andrew Zimmern did it for food on Bizarre Foods. But I couldn’t find anyone that did this for retirement activities.

I decided that person should to be me. I love to try new things. I could make a giant list of retirement activities, try them, then report back about what I liked and what I didn’t like. It will be a journey we will all take. So, I have formed this website and some social media accounts (@RetiremanDotOrg adn RetiremanDotOrg on TikTok). My name is Tom, but you can call me RetireMan, the guinea pig/super hero for all retirement activities.

It is time for us to try some new retirement activities.

RetireMan Tries Surfing

Status Update: What’s My Favorite? Of all of the retirement activities i’ve tried, my favorite thing so far is Surfing. It isn’t easy, I’m not good at it, and I don’t know how long I’ll be able to continue to do it, but for now I enjoy the exercise, the thrill, and the simple challenge of riding waves. If you think you might like to surf you should try it as soon as possible. Head to a surf shop and book a lesson. Surf instructors teach all sorts of people to surf. Anyone who can swim and can stand up can try surfing. You could be next.
