Here is my pickleball review. Here at Retireman.org I review as many different retirement activities as possible. I do this because I like trying new things and I am retiring fairly young, so I figured I could experiment a little bit and share with other people what activities are great and what might not be. That way you can find some great retirement activities for you.
Today my wife and I went to Pickleball. My wife has been playing pickleball quite a bit and she loves it. She retired first, so she has a bit of a head start on the pickleball craze, while I’m late to the party. Prior to today I had only played pickleball twice. Once was at a local church and another time we played on the city court with a couple we know. Both times I was definitely a beginner.
Today we went to a pickleball club where they were having an “open mixer” which meant you just paid $15 and you could play pickleball with a sorta random mix of folks. My wife thought this would be a great place for me to enter the pickleball world and as usual, my wife was right. I enjoyed Pickleball quite a bit.
We made a video of our Pickleball review.
As a retirement activity my wife rates Pickleball a 9/10. She loves it.
I enjoyed pickleball quite a bit too, but as I’ve aged, I’ve soured on competitive sports. I have less patience for the hyper competitive people that sometimes poison the fun. I didn’t run into anyone today, but it was in the room. I rate pickleball a 8/10 which is quite high and I hope my wife and I can find some pickleball people near us that are chill and fun.
I hope you find my reviews helpful in thinking about your retirement. You can find my big list of retirement activities by clicking here. There will be links to all of the activities I have reviewed already.
